Welcome,
to the America's Highways Web site. This site is the result of a summer spent along Route 66 collecting interviews with the people who live, work and travel the old road. We've also included a number of pictures taken along the road, as well as journal entries from the trip.

When navigating the site, you'll be able to follow in our footsteps and take your own "virtual road trip" along the Main Street of America, using these buttons:

To get back to this page.

Click the interviews button at the left to browse the interviews that we conducted along the road, in both audio and video formats. You'll find best-selling authors, traveling artists and even honest-to-goodness rednecks.

The pictures button will let you explore the sights of Route 66, as captured by the Nikon N80 and the Olympus D-460 that we brought with us. Cars, buildings, scenery and more await.

During the trip, we kept a journal of some of the things we saw, places we visited, people we talked to. Read some of the excerpts (with pictures!) by clicking on the journal button.

Here you can read the proposal that we submitted to the Johns Hopkins University's Center for Educational Resources to request funding for our project.

A short list of some of the people that helped us along the way.

Happy trails!
