Tools For School - Community Service Project

Tools for School is a school supply drive which is one way JHU-SHPE strives to give back to the Latino community.  This program is co-sponsored by OLE, the Latino Student Union on campus.  Approximately five large boxes were filled with an assortment of school supplies which were then donated to the Latin American Parents Association.  These school supplies will be distributed to school children in Peru.  This year SHPE is collecting unused school/kitchen supplies and monetary donations for Mi Refugio in Guatemala City.  Mi Refugio is a school in Guatemala City that offers free education to children that live in the city dump.  They are in need of school and kitchen supplies.  Every little bit helps, please be generous.

Latin America Parents Association – International Relief

 LAPA-NCR accepts the following donations to send to children living in Latin America:

• New or gently-used clothing or shoes
  • No adult clothing
  • Summer clothes are most useful
• Medicines:
  • Fever reducers
  • Cold medicines
  • Diaper cream
  • Pedialyte
  • First-aid cream
  • Bandaids
• Toys
  • None that need batteries!
• School Supplies
  • Crayons
  • Pens
  • Pencils
  • Notebooks

 LAPA-NCR also accepts financial contributions that go towards shipping the above listed donations to medical, social, religious, and charitable organizations who are involved in bettering the lives of children in Latin America.
