ACE Program

The Advancing Careers in Engineering (ACE) Program is a National SHPE program, which JHU-SHPE is working to bring to the campus. ACE funds activities which increase the participation of youth preparing to enter engineering and science related careers. The two major goals of the ACE Program are:

• To outreach out to the community and introduce exciting career opportunities in engineering and science to elementary, junior high and high school students.
• To support retention mechanisms by developing and reinforcing the academic support systems at all levels of the education continuum to increase the graduation rates of Hispanic engineering and science students.

The ACE Program sponsors those community service and outreach activities that aim to do one or more of the following:

• Decrease the Latino high school drop out rate.
• Promote the attainment of undergraduate degrees in the science and engineering fields.
• Promote the attainment of advanced degrees in the science and engineering fields.

JHU-SHPE will be targeting Highlantown Elementary School Latino students in Baltimore, MD as another way of giving back to the Latino community.  If you would like to help in developing our ACE program, email us at shpe@jhu.edu.
