Ion channels in developing hair cells and afferent neurons:   Differentiating

vestibular signals

Abstract:

Vestibular signals from the inner ear are carried by two afferent streams with different firing regularity and response dynamics.  Correlated with these signaling properties are specific biophysical properties of hair cells and afferent neurons.  By studying ion channels in developing hair cells and neurons, we gain insight into how afferent properties differentiate.
