The Need for Women’s Groups Today

While there has been progress allowing women equal access to educational and professional experiences, a sorority allows women equal opportunity to develop the skills necessary to succeed.  Alpha Phi provides an opportunity for women to practice leadership, decision-making and financial management skills often monopolized by men in coed situations.

The Purpose of Alpha Phi

The objects of our Fraternity are the promotion of growth in character, unity of feeling, sisterly affection, and social communion among our members.

Opportunities to Develop Life-Long Friendships

Perhaps the most consistent impact Alpha Phi will have is the life-long friendships you will make.  In school you will study together, spend spring break together, go to parties together.  You will share the good times and support each other through the challenging times.  The friends you have today in Alpha Phi will be your friends forever.  They will be the bridesmaids at you wedding and the godmothers to your children. You will take vacations together and comfort each other in times of sorrow.  And you will grow old together.

The Alpha Phi Foundation

In 1946 cardiac care was selected as the Fraternity’s Philanthropy.  Since then, Alpha Phi has regarded heart disease and cardiac care, particularly as they affect women, as philanthropic priorities.  In 1956 Alpha Phi became the first women’s Fraternity to establish a Foundation.  Its original focus was scholarships, fellowships, and providing suitable housing.

Non-Hazing Policy

As a sisterhood founded on mutual love and respect, hazing has no place in Alpha Phi.  Alpha Phi International will not tolerate the mental or physical hazing of any member.

Foundation Scholarships

The Alpha Phi Foundation supports women in all stages of their education.  Undergraduate and graduate scholarships are awarded to Alpha Phi collegians and alumnae every year.  Non-traditional educational scholarships are available to women who need additional coursework for certification, career advancement or to re-enter the workforce
