Held nationwide to honor the deceased, support the survivors, and fundraise to fight against cancer, Relay for Life is an event to offer hope for those affected by the disease.

Relay for Life will be held April 17, 2009 in the Upper Quad at the Johns Hopkins University Homewood Campus.

This year, SHINE is collaborating with Colleges Against Cancer to give Jars of Hope to attending cancer survivors -- jars with encouraging messages and symbols of hope, goodwill and happiness. To find out more, check out our links page.

A Brief Introduction

Students Helping to Invent New Expressions (SHINE) is a community service arts club on the Johns Hopkins University Homewood Campus dedicated to the teaching, making, and selling of crafts such as beaded items, jewelry, knit/crochet items, and donating the proceeds to charity and our Baltimore community.

To Members

If you are interested in signing up to help man the table for our Breezeway sales, or to sell your own things next to us at the table, please contact us!

Anyone who is interested in a board position is welcome to attend our next board meeting (check the Calendar). If you have not attended a board meeting yet, please e-mail us and tell us what board (and if you know, which duties/jobs) you are interested in. :)

Disclaimer

Because we are a community service organization, we will dedicate the items made with our materials to donation and sales to fundraise. If you would like to keep an item you have made with our materials, we will expect compensation for material costs. We do not have any hidden or unreasonable fees, and will be dedicated to providing the resources needed to teach general members, as well as contributing to charities and the community. We also welcome donations of supplies or money from general members to help fund our projects, keep our club running, and provide for charities and other causes.
